Due to Canine Flu being prevalent in Louisville and Lexington, Barktown Rescue is requiring all dogs boarding at our facility to have the Flu Vaccine completed by October 1st.
Information on Canine Flu Virus
- Highly prevalent in Louisville and Lexington Area
- Very contagious. Spread thru direct contact (nose to nose), indirect (sneezing and coughing).
- The N2 vaccine was developed for this strain and is good for 1 year.
-Persistent coughing and sneezing
-Nasal or Eye Discharge
- Reduced Appetite
All Vets in the Nelson/Hardin County area are giving the 2 Part Vaccines.
Immunity requires 2 doses, given 2 to 4 weeks apart.
-45% effective with first dose
-80-90% effective with second dose
-100% effective 2 weeks after last vaccine
